History

Raphia Walk – A grove of Raphia Palms has been an official National Monument since 1942, thanks to its diversity and unique botanical value. This natural monument is one of only 18 botanical places in the country. it is the best place to spot the rare Palmnut Vulture which nests near the top of the palm.

Dunns Assembly – The Zulu word emthunzini means “a place in the shade” but in the history of our beautiful small coastal town it refers specifically to the place under the milkwood trees near the Mlalazi River where the White Zulu chief, John Dunn, would meet with the tribal elders of the area.

Testimonials

 What our guests say…

My stay with you could not have been better, breakfast with a view was just perfect. I must thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality.  I need some time to recover from my journey home but can’t wait to show my friends what a fantastic place you have. The train and balloon ride will appear to lots of mad English people, right up their street and besides that you are a dog lover. Glynnis great place, great views, warm and friendly welcome and a great hostess. With thanks and very kind regards

Barry from United Kingdom

Do go and stay! You will be so pleased you did. Glynnis is a wonderful host and her place is simply sparkling. The location is great with lovely views of the sea.

Will & Sue Kirby from United Kingdom

We had a fantastic stay in Glynnis beautiful apartment. It has everything you need, is very nicely decorated and the view is just stunning. There is even a swimming pool which we didn’t expect and Glynnis was very kind and put up a baby splash pool for our daughter. Glynnis and Charlie were extremely welcoming and friendly. They also prepared a very useful information folder with useful recommendations on restaurants (with their menus), maps, etc. Highly recommendable place to stay!!

Alexandra Amrein from Germany

A really gorgeous space and house, Glynnis is such a thoughtful host and made sure we had everything we needed… the space is beautifully decorated and so many little touches make it feel extra special… milk and water in the fridge, rusks and a selection of teas and nice coffee in the kitchen… they even made sure we had charcoal and firefighters for a braai… the beds are superbly comfy too. The pool was a wonderful place to spend in the evenings in the really hot weather with a beautiful view…. PS Doogle the Scotty is such a little legend… thank you Glynnis and Charles for a really wonderful stay!
